Mammals produce the most antibodies of any isotype, immunoglobulin A (IgA). IgA is primarily involved in immune defense and maintaining homeostasis at mucosal surfaces. IgA primarily interacts with several receptors, such as the asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR), to carry out its tasks. ASGPR is a type C lectin that binds to carbohydrates and helps the body eliminate different faulty plasma glycoprotein molecules. These receptors are essential in avoiding hepatocyte infections, inflammation, and cancer. They also recognize and bind to pathogen membrane glycoproteins, effectively removing them from the bloodstream by receptor-mediated endocytosis. Owing to the immense potential of ASGPR in the treatment of hepatopathies, Creative Biolabs has worked hard to further ASGPR research and has made impressive progress.
