New Delhi, October 2, 2025. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, GoSharpener proudly announced its Khadi Day Activity, highlighting Khadi as a timeless symbol of self-reliance, sustainability, and India’s rich cultural heritage.

Khadi, once a movement of independence, today stands as a movement of eco-conscious living and sustainable fashion. Through this initiative, students learned the importance of repurposing old textiles and were introduced to the alarming reality that India ranks third globally in textile waste generation.

As part of the activity, children repurposed their old T-shirts or shirts into useful items such as aprons, learning how small creative acts can make a big environmental difference. They even calculated the carbon emissions saved by reusing old clothes rather than discarding them turning a simple classroom task into a meaningful sustainability exercise.

“GoSharpener ensures students are always aware of environmental issues. On Khadi Day, we encouraged students to repurpose old fabrics instead of dumping them, making sustainability a part of their daily lives,” said Mr. Prateek Kumar, Co-Founder, GoSharpener.

“After plastic waste, textile waste is one of the most serious challenges for our planet. Through this activity, we wanted children to understand the three Ps of sustainability: People, Planet, and Prosperity and take mindful steps towards a greener future,” added Mr. Ankit Kapoor, Co-Founder, GoSharpener.

Khadi Day is not just a celebration of a fabric, it’s a tribute to India’s artisans, traditions, and Gandhi’s vision of self-sufficiency. By wearing and creating with Khadi, students honored the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi while embracing eco-friendly choices that contribute to a cleaner planet.
