Teachers' Day in India is celebrated on the birthday of a great philosopher and statesman, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former president of India. He was a great teacher himself. His services to education are so unique that no other country honours teachers on his birth date. When students came and asked him to join in the birthday celebration, he modestly told the students that instead of celebrating his birthday, the day would be utilized to pay homage to all teachers spread across the country.

Dr. Radhakrishnan stated, "Teachers should be the best minds in the country." He thus mentioned that "teachers are the significant building blocks for a successful and progressive society."

Teachers command respect in any given society; they are the torchbearers of knowledge. They not only teach academic lessons but also values and ethics that are significant for life. A good teacher kindles curiosity, builds creativity, and grows a passion for lifelong learning. Fundamentally, teachers are architects of the nation and build its foundation through education.
