Svetlana Elgart: Empowering Generations Through Health, Education, and Innovation

Svetlana Elgart, born December 10, 1967, in Odesa, Ukraine, has emerged as a dynamic force in health and wellness education in the United States. As a Ukrainian-American entrepreneur, educator, and health advocate, her journey from an immigrant child to a nationally recognized changemaker is both inspiring and impactful. Through her visionary leadership and dedication to youth empowerment, Svetlana has launched and led multiple successful ventures, most notably Rainbow Chefs Academy, which has touched the lives of tens of thousands of students nationwide.

Immigrating to the U.S. in 1978 with her family, Svetlana was raised in a home that valued wholesome, home-cooked meals. These early experiences laid the groundwork for a lifelong passion for health and nutrition. After earning her Associate of Science degree in Business and Marketing from the University of North Texas in 1987, Svetlana continued to grow both professionally and personally, eventually obtaining her certification in Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts from Bauman College.

While many pursue success in business, Svetlana combined her entrepreneurial instincts with a heartfelt mission: to create sustainable change in the way children learn about and interact with food, wellness, and self-care.

Before founding her most renowned venture, Svetlana established several initiatives aimed at education and personal development. One of her earliest programs, Kids Homework Club, was designed to support students academically in a structured after-school environment. Her second project, Strings of Art, was a creative space that promoted artistic exploration and expression, attracting thousands of young learners and their families.

These projects revealed Svetlana’s exceptional ability to develop engaging, meaningful programs that supported both educational growth and emotional well-being.

In 2011, Svetlana founded Rainbow Chefs, a culinary-based health and wellness program that merged her personal and professional passions. What began as a small initiative to teach children how to cook nutritious meals quickly gained traction. Recognizing a broader need for comprehensive wellness education, she evolved the concept into Rainbow Chefs Academy (RCA) in 2020—a full-scale curriculum designed to be integrated into K–12 education.

RCA’s mission is clear: to empower students with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to make healthy choices that will serve them for a lifetime. The program combines lessons on nutrition, cooking skills, food science, wellness habits, and mental health awareness. With interactive modules and hands-on culinary experiences, every RCA lesson reinforces a holistic approach to healthy living.

Under Svetlana’s leadership, Rainbow Chefs Academy has reached over 65,000 students across the United States. The program has partnered with school districts, municipal governments, and educational organizations to tackle pressing public health issues such as childhood obesity and Type 2 diabetes.

Each student in the program not only learns how to prepare a healthy meal but also gains insights into food labels, portion control, balanced nutrition, and the benefits of mental wellness practices. RCA’s partnerships with public institutions have made the program accessible to underserved communities, amplifying Svetlana’s goal of equity in health education.

Svetlana’s impact extends beyond schools and into digital spaces. RCA maintains a growing YouTube presence and a podcast, both of which feature recipes, expert interviews, and wellness tips designed for families and educators alike. In July 2024, she is set to publish her first cookbook, Cooking Healthy with Rainbow Chefs: Cookbook for Kids – Easy and Delicious Recipes, providing families with tools to bring the RCA experience into their homes.

Looking ahead, Svetlana is working on a children’s book series titled Kale the Cupboard Monster, debuting in April 2025. This imaginative series will teach children about healthy eating through fun, relatable stories, further cementing her role as an innovator in wellness education.

Svetlana Elgart’s successful endeavors are rooted in a deep desire to make a meaningful difference. Her blend of entrepreneurship, advocacy, and education has created ripples across communities, classrooms, and kitchens. As a mother of three, she understands firsthand the importance of instilling healthy habits early. Through Rainbow Chefs Academy and her ongoing projects, Svetlana continues to empower the next generation with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to live healthier, more mindful lives. Her work is not just a career—it’s a movement.
