“I will give my life to Real Madrid”.

Real Madrid celebrated Mbappe's signing on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu, the club's home stadium.

The club, which officially announced the signing of Mbappe on March 3, held the ceremony after the conclusion of Euro 2024. 

Prior to the ceremony, Mbappe underwent medical tests at the club's designated hospital before heading to the training ground to meet Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti and his teammates. He then appeared at the Santiago Bernabeu in a Real Madrid jersey for the induction ceremony.

More than 80,000 fans chanted Mbappe's name as he entered the stadium wearing a white Real Madrid jersey.

The words “Welcome, Mbappe” flashed across the giant scoreboard. There were videos of Mbappe's exploits and photos of him with Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo (Alnasr).

On the day, Mbappe spoke in fluent Spanish without the aid of a translator.

“I've dreamed of playing for Real Madrid since I was a kid, and today I'm finally here. It means a lot to me,” Mbappe said, adding, ”Now I have another dream. “Now I have another dream: to live up to the history of Real Madrid, the best club in the world. I will dedicate my life to this club and this jersey.”

Mbappe, who made his debut for French club Monaco in 2015, has scored 256 goals in 308 appearances for PSG over seven seasons, including a loan spell in 2017-18. He was also a regular for the French national team, helping them win the 2018 World Cup in Russia. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, he scored eight goals, surpassing Lionel Messi (seven) to win the Golden Boot.

Mbappe also had a message for young fans.

“If you have passion and dreams, you can achieve anything you want,” he said, adding, ”Today I am here, but next time one of you (children around the world) could be here.”
